Where I spend hours of each precious day

Deciding which emotions I’m “allowed” to feel

And which ones I should push down

I guess it keeps me safe but

If I could look back on today, once I’ve passed on

Would I be glad I spent hours of every precious fucking day

Trying to feel the “right way”?

Choosing which emotions to show

Or would I want to spend today,

Driving down the coast

Screaming the wrong lyrics to

“Free and lonely”

and typing out those “risky” texts

(You know, the ones where I actually say what I mean, what I feel, when I tell people I’m tired of their shit, or I love them, or I want them with me)

I want to make it clear that while I don’t think any aspect of this post is actionable advice

I want to get you thinking about who you really truly are, who you want people to think you are,

And why you give a dam what strangers think of your beautiful self

Because I know all 6 of the people who read this

And I know for a goddam fact that you’ve all got far to much collective insanity, wisdom, depth, vision, passion, authenticity, and love

To water yourselves down

Because I need every single one of you

And so does the world

And when I say I need you

I don’t just mean

The simple

The easy

The average

Don’t do a disservice to this world

By pushing ANY of it down

Because I need all of you

And the world needs all of you
